Drumroll...

Tuesday evening it came, the long awaited email, both dreaded and wanted. I only needed to glance at the title to know... that I have been selected!! I was on my way home from work and just couldn't stop smiling. I got a few weird looks, but who cares?

It used to be a dream, far away, that I could only imagine. But now, it's suddenly real. In six weeks I'll actually be setting foot on that ship, actually sailing away, actually learning on deck. Wow. It's hard to comprehend.

Now I'm busying myself with finding last-minute sponsors for the last few (approx three) thousand, trying to convince my school and arranging vaccinations. On September fifteenth there'll be a long information evening to inform us about everything we need to know. A month later I'll go aboard the Regina Maris, living on her for a few days before saying farewell to everyone at IJmuiden. You may come too, it's on the 21st of October, I'll let you know what time and where as soon as possible :-)

By the way, I hadn't mentioned the great poster that Het Fotovakhuis printed for me yet, thank you! Definitely go and check them out, they're great!

And yesterday photographer Marlies Wessels took some great photos of me for AD Groene Hart, a newspaper. It's the same article as in Witte Weekblad, here it is:

Alrighty-ho, that's it for today, see ya soon!
